Designed with families in mind, Killary Lodge offers 10 spacious en-suite bedrooms and flexible shared spaces, so there’s plenty of room to relax and spend time together.

We provide cots, highchairs, a baby bath, kids’ books and games and even a projector and screen for family movie nights. And dogs are welcome too.

Killary Lodge can accommodate up to 36 guests. The property includes 10 en-suite bedrooms, with additional pull-out beds used to increase total capacity. We can advise on the most suitable sleeping layout based on your group size and age mix.

Yes. Killary Lodge is booked on an exclusive hire basis, meaning your group has private use of the entire lodge and surrounding grounds throughout your stay.

Killary Lodge is located on the southern shores of Killary Harbour, approximately 5km from Leenane, Co. Galway, along the Wild Atlantic Way. The 180-acre property extends to the shores of Killary Fjord and is surrounded by mountain and coastal scenery. Approximate drive times:

  • Galway City: 1.5-hour drive
  • Westport: 40-minute drive
  • Knock Airport: 1.5-hour drive
  • Dublin Airport: 3.5-hour drive
  • Shannon Airport: 2.5-hour drive

Public transport bus services connect Galway and Westport to Killary, and private transfers can be arranged on request.

Yes. The lodge combines large shared living and dining spaces with private en-suite bedrooms, making it well suited to extended family gatherings and multi-generational stays.

Yes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. A dog fee applies per stay to cover additional cleaning. As the lodge is located in a rural Connemara setting, dogs must be supervised and house guidelines followed.

Yes. Fibre broadband internet is available throughout the lodge, providing strong and reliable connectivity during your stay.

Check-in is from 5pm on arrival day and check-out is 10am on departure day. Early arrival or late departure may be possible subject to availability and an additional fee.

Bed linen and towels are provided. On arrival you will find a starter supply of tea and coffee, cooking essentials such as oil, salt and pepper, toilet roll, cleaning products, refuse and recycling bags, dishwasher tablets and tea towels.

There are no shops within walking distance. Leenane (5km away) has a small shop, café and pubs. Larger supermarkets and additional dining options are available in Letterfrack, Westport and Clifden. Grocery delivery can also be arranged.

Yes. The lodge includes ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, one fully wheelchair-accessible bedroom and a lift providing access to the first floor. Outdoor dining areas are accessible, though some landscaped areas may be uneven due to the natural terrain.

Minimum stays vary by season:

  • July & August: 7 nights
  • Easter, Christmas & New Year: 4 nights
  • June, September & Bank Holiday weekends: 3 nights At other times, a 2-night minimum stay applies. One-night stays are not available.

For fire safety and insurance purposes, we must know the number and age profile of guests staying each night. Please notify us if guest numbers change between booking and arrival.

Yes. Catering options, including menus from The Misunderstood Heron, can be arranged for milestone birthdays, anniversaries and family celebrations during your stay.
