FAQs
How long are the activities?
Our activities run in 3-hour sessions. You book and pay for a session, not individual activities. Full Activity Days have two sessions running from 10am to 1pm AND 2pm to 5pm. Half Activity Days have one session which runs from 10am to 1pm OR 2pm to 5pm. A session will have either one activity which takes up the full 3 hours session or 2 shorter activities of 1.5 hours each.
Can I do a mix of water and land-based activities in one session?
We do not mix land and water activities in one session, as too much time is wasted getting changed between activities. If you would like to try a mix of water and land-based activities, we recommend booking a Full Activity Day with two 3-hour sessions.
Can I choose activities when I arrive?
All activities must be pre-booked. If you do not choose your activities prior to arrival, you will be allocated the activities already scheduled for that day which may not include your preferred activities.
Can I add extra activities to my package?
You can book extra activities in advance through our online booking system or call us on 095 43411. You can also add activities during your stay, but the availability of activities cannot be guaranteed.
At what age can children take part in activities?
The minimum age for children to take part in our activities is 8 years old, due to the nature of the challenges involved and size and strength required.
What do I need to bring?
We provide all safety equipment and gear. We provide wetsuits, but if you would prefer to bring your own you are welcome to do so. We do recommend using our wetsuits for the Turf Challenge, as they will get very dirty and it doesn’t matter if ours rip! Read our What to Bring checklist for more information.
What if it’s raining?
Here in Connemara, we are well used to a bit of rain. Our activities take place rain, hail or shine. If you decide not to take part in your booked activities due to rain or cold, you will not get a refund. However, if we have to cancel your activity due to adverse weather, you will be offered an alternative activity, rescheduled or offered a full refund.
What if I can’t swim?
We recommend that anyone taking part in water-based activities should be able to swim and be comfortable in deep water. You do not need to be a strong swimmer, as our instructors will be with you at all times, but you will probably fall into the water at some point during most water activities.
Where can I leave my valuables & phone?
All valuables should be left in your car. There are lockers at the activity site for safe storage of car keys. Clothes and towels can be left in the changing room while you take part in activities. Phones cannot be taken on activity sessions as there is a chance that they may get damaged or lost due to the nature of our activities. We also strongly believe that you will have a much better experience with us if you are not distracted by your phone! Mobile phones can only be brought to activity sessions if they are used as medical device or for other essential reasons which must be agreed in advance.
Where can we eat lunch before/after our activity session?
The activity site is closed from 1-2pm daily. You are very welcome to use one of the picnic tables at the main Killary Adventure Centre building or you can walk along the Killary Coastal Path where there are a number of seating areas perfect for a picnic. You can also book lunch at Killary Adventure Centre.
