All those aged 6 years and over who are happy to spend 2 hours out in a boat. It will be a sedate trip designed for families who want to do something different in the evenings. It is running only for the months of July and August to capture the best sunsets that Connemara has to offer.
What is involved:
You will be met by your instructor at the Killary activity site and given life jackets and brought down to the boat, a 7.5 meter RIB, powered by a 200 horsepower engine. Your instructor will take you out along the fjord and tell you a bit of the history of the area and show you the different branches of aquaculture on the fjord. If you want to go for a swim in middle of the fjord then we can stop. Two fishing rods are supplied to try and catch some Mackerel or maybe Pollack. They usually come into the fjord in July and August following in the small sprat. If we are very lucky we will see Dolphins who also come fishing in the fjord each week!
What to bring:
You will need to bring some warm clothes and waterproof jackets. Bring extra layers of clothing in a bag as it gets cold out on the water as the sun goes down. If you want to swim bring a swimsuit, towel and warm clothes for afterwards. We will provide you with a buoyancy aid and two fishing rods and you can take anything you catch home with you.
